Blackened Catfish

Blackened catfish is a delicious, classic Cajun/Creole dish. Its packed full of flavor and can be cooked in a matter of a few minutes so it’s the perfect dish when you wanna eat in a hurry!

A quick note: While this recipe utilizes a saucepan and a cast iron skillet, we highly recommend that this dish be cooked outdoors because it can give off a lot of smoke!

Heres what you’ll need:

2-4 Catfish fillets

3/4C Butter

Lemon (cut into wedges)

Sauce pan

Cast iron skillet

Directions:

1.     Lets start by seasoning both sides of the fillets with Bo B Q Cajun Seasoning. Try to work the seasoning into the fillets. This will help keep the seasoning from coming off during the cooking process. Set the fillets aside. Now, let’s head over to the grill/outdoor burner.

2.     We want to melt our butter in the saucepan and get our cast iron good and hot.

3.     Next we want to add about 1/4C of our melted butter to the skillet. When the butter starts to smoke, its time to add the fillets!

4.     Now we want to cook these fillets until the seasoning begins to burn or blacken on the bottom side then we are going to flip and repeat on the other side. This takes about 2-3 minutes per side depending on your irons temperature.

5.     Once blackened on the outside and white & flaky on the inside, we’re going to pour the remaining butter over the fillets, plate them up and serve with a lemon wedge and your favorite sides! We recommend corn or Cajun rice!
